The film tells the story of the journey of a child who is a shoeshine named Musa . Along the way, Musa became a courier letter liaison between fighters and militants .
Battle of Surabaya tells Musa that the ego trip of being a hero in the battle at the beginning of independent Indonesia .According to Suyanto , the film wanted a story that everyone can be a hero in his own way .
